TWF Centre
The TWF Centre hosts groups, in particular, students, offering first-hand perspective on Maasai culture, living in harmony with wildlife. Visitors provide tremendous benefits to our community.
ACTIVITIES
Lion Lights
Visitors can sponsor and install solar powered Lion Lights for conservancy members. These play an essential role in preventing night-time livestock predation on the conservancy.
Camera Traps
Visitors install motion-sensor cameras along the border between the conservancy and Nairobi National Park. After collecting the cameras, they will have a viewing party to see their photos. The activity is an effective and non-invasive way to monitor wildlife population and habits.
Walking Safaris
Explore the Naretunoi Conservancy and all its wildlife on foot! Unlike in national parks where you are confined to cars, at the Centre you can see giraffe, gazelle and identify footprints and scat while safely guided by local community professionals and KWS rangers.
Community Engagement
In the past, students have completed miscellaneous projects such as renovating the picnic site at the Hippo Pools, building a soccer pitch at a local school, and constructing flood-mitigating gabions.
OTHER FEATURES
The Centre is designed to be as low impact as possible. Water usage is kept at a minimum and all food is locally sourced. Camp life is based on the local way of life.
The Centre currently accomodates 60 people at a time. Residents are provided with 3 meals a day at our central dining area. Outdoor showers are available for use. We also have a volleyball pitch and a camp fire pit.
We are in the process of building a library. Spare books and games are greatly appreciated.
Meet Impy, the resident impala! She lives at the Centre and is very friendly with humans.
